Why e-books will soon be obsolete (and no, it’s not just because of DRM)

Ok, I support this article. HOWEVER a system that relies on PDF and it’s limited accessibility is doomed. HTML 5 has higher potential but as the owner of a wi-fi only not-always-connected device online support needs to be more than “embryonic” to work. Still, short article worth a read.

How Much Do Kindle Singles Authors Make? | paidContent

The most interesting thing about this article, I think, is the revelation that if you have a 15,000-30,000 word story to tell, there is a venue for it now. You don’t have to cut it down to a magazine article length or blow it up to a short novel.

It’s like 18th Century Britain and the pamphlet wars. Soon we’ll be able to read a treatise on the latest stupid thing the Presidential candidates did, or a pamphlet on how to run a successful Kickstarter campaign. Glory to the long-form reader! Long live the pamphlet!

Dear Aunt TUAW: Help me manage my Dropbox

This is something that I think about a lot…and then often fail to manage properly. Of course the computer with the least space, that would benefit the most from cloud storage is the one that has the hardest time connecting to the internet and would therefore also benefit from a permanent folder (sigh).
